Sunny Days & Small Business Moves

Today is one of those rare, perfect Chicago days — sunny skies, highs in the mid‑70s, and just enough breeze to make the city feel alive in a different way. Maybe it’s the weather, or maybe it’s the fact that I haven’t had a drink in a week, but I was up early this morning with a clear head and a little extra motivation.

With that clarity, I dove straight into something that’s been on my mind for a while: giving The World According to Derrick a proper home. I made a few updates to the website and even created a holding spot for my handmade WordPress template. If you’re curious, you can see the early version here: https://sitecraft-studio.com/the-world-according-to-derrick/

I have to admit — it was fun. There’s something about building something from scratch, shaping it piece by piece, that reminds me why I started SiteCraft Studio in the first place. Clean design, intentional structure, and the freedom to create exactly what I envision… it hits a certain part of my brain that nothing else does.

But once the creative high settles, reality taps me on the shoulder.

I need customers.

Not in a desperate way — more in a “this is the next step in the journey” way. Kayla’s old school is administering grants to small businesses, and I’m planning to look into it. Maybe I can secure one for myself. Or better yet, maybe the recipients will need websites, branding, or a digital presence that actually works. That’s where I come in.

It’s funny how entrepreneurship works. One moment you’re deep in code, adjusting margins and perfecting gradients, and the next you’re strategizing how to grow, connect, and get your work in front of the right people. But that’s the game — and honestly, I’m here for it.

So here’s to sunny days, clear minds, and the next chapter of building something meaningful. The world according to Derrick is still unfolding, and I’m just getting started.
